A new life at 67.Can a woman start all over again?

Compared with the USA or China it’s nothing, but our little country has never been so successful in an Olympic Games since 1952,then Swiss athletes also won three medals in one day.

Gold for Fabian Cancellara, congratulations to the fastest man on a bike.

It almost makes me want to forgive the Kings of the Road here who can’t obey a traffic rule the moment they get their helmets on and their noses down.

Congratulations to Karin Thürig, also on a bike, and Sergei Aschwanden, bronze in believe it or not Judo.

And to all the other Athletes who have had their labours crowned, especially Michael Phelps who is phenomenal. Our neighbours up north are already murmuring that it gives food for thought. But then the days of the old DDR are long gone.

I’m just hoping that Roger Federer will win too,not so we have another medal, but because he’s one of the nicest people around and he deserves it.

Now if you want to say it in Chinese;

Zhu he Fabian,Karin,Sergei,Michael,….huo de jiang pai (tschoo hey F.K.S.M.hoo-o de chiang pie)

We congratulate…….to the medal.

    In the UK we win the occasional medal now and again, usually the ones that no-one else wants, rowing is a sport we seem to excel at although no-one rows here, ever, and you never see rowing on TV, ever – so where do all the British rowers hide during the non-olympic years ?

  2. Hi Jerry,Yes I’ve been wondering what has happened to the Brits, maybe Sport isn’t taken so seriously in school any more.I can remember learning to throw a javelin and a discus, besides the racing and jumping, and I was only eleven years old.
    As for the rowers, probably in Oxford or Cambrige.

  3. Being on vacation it isn’t easy to keep up with the Swiss medal count. Thank you for keeping me abreast.

    Our last night in B. Tomorrow we are heading North. Had a great time and ‘survived’ the S&M encounter! (Sorry couldn’t resist, more later). Luv S.

    Well I take everything back about Britain not winning many medals, we, erm, seem to be doing quite well 🙂

    Its amazing what many, many millions of £’s investment from your lottery funds will do to your Olympic ambitions.

    I still don’t know what happens to all the rowers and sailors when they come home though…

  5. Three cheers for the Swiss athletes.

    Great Britain is doing surprisingly well this Olympics. All the preparations for London 2012 seem to have paid off. Btw, I really like the medal design.
